Paris Haute Couture FW 14/15 - Ulyana Sergeenko (vogue.fr)
For fall/winter 14/15, Ulyana Sergeenko created a beautiful time line form the fall of the Czars to the rise of the USSR. The very first long, black leather, military coat suggested the Russian designer was channeling a very strong moment in her country's history. However, the silhouette (nipped-in waist and flared bottom) was also telling things could glam-up Sergeenko's way any time soon.
And they did. Those industrial, constructivist lines and prints gave way to the designer's signature curvaceous outfits. And those came with all the silky satins, sheer organzas, delicate Russian embroideries and shimmering embellishments they naturally deserved.
Anyway, it was quite refreshing seeing Ulyana Sergeenko stepting out of her fairytale-like comfort zone, into something a little more graphic and powerful.
