I know I've been away for too long. Sometimes "offline life" gets in the way and the online world has to stay on hold for while... It took me a longer while than I had predicted to get back in action around here and I'm sorry for that. I'm still learning how to multitask neatly, that's the absolute truth.

Well, a few days ago, Cláudia, a friend of mine who's got a blog of her own (visit http://glam1000.blogspot.pt/  to get to know her) told me she was working on a fashion photography project at university and asked me to model for her. I accepted, of course! Then, our friend Margarida joined us with precious styling ideas for the shooting.

We ended up using a dress I designed and hand crafted for a recent college project of my own, as it translated quite well the slightly historic vibe Cláudia wanted to capture. When I finally saw the photographs on my computer, I loved some of them so much I had to turn them into some kind of editorial... It's so wearable as my previous ones, it's a more inspirational kind of thing (I'll bring you guys some "real outfits" inspired by this mood very very soon!). And the most important thing was it really pushed me into coming back to the blog!

Hope you love the pictures as much as we loved "making" them!

Cláudia wanted a historic portrait with a twist. Margarida thought of a modernized, quite subverted, version of Anna Karenina. I had made a dress inspired by the superstitious belief that when someone breaks a mirror their soul is broken at the same time.Mixing it all up, we came up with a few portraits of a dark poetry.

These three main influences completed each other in the right way. Just as if they were meant to be captured together in the same frame...

 "Broken mirrors, broken souls".

As far as it concerns the concept behind my dress, I also wanted to give it an aged look. I love searching the past for ispiration and I think it really bring a special beauty to things. In ths particular case, it was supposed to give the supertition a more powerful and lively feel. I needed a broken mirror, so I added silver paillettes to the skirt, as if they were shattered glass. And, most of all, I needed a broken soul, so I thought of representing that as exposed intimacy. What could be more fashionably intimate than revealing some skin and delicate lace lingerie? In the end, I topped everything with a vaporous tulle cloak. Its light and quite foggy appearence was perfect to represent a soul floating away from the shattered mirrors.

At last, a bit of behind the scenes fun... As it often happens in life, some of our best photographic moments come along when least expected!
